Back Ground
The development of furniture industry in form of 24 furniture centerssuch as in 3 districts such as Pulo Gadung, Cakung, Duren Sawit and in other furniture centers establishing East Jakarta as the biggest furniture centers in Jakarta, and even the biggest one in ASEAN, based on Kompas Research and Development Division.
Considering those facts and to anticipate AFTA 2003, in which local and national furniture will deal with international competitors in term of quality, finance, technology, production, marketing and human resource , it is urgently needed to establish a kind of organization to accommodate furniture craftsmen and business owners to develop their business.
PPIKM and the Establishment of Wood and Furniture Industry Cooperation (Koperasi Industri Kayu dan Meuble)
The establishment of Wood and Furniture Promotion Centers located in Jatinegara Kaum, supported by East Jakarta Industry and Commerce Department and Head of East Jakarta District, Mr H Koesnan A Halim, promotes the establishment of Wood and Furniture Industry Cooperation (Koperasi Industri Kayu dan Meuble) on January 21st, 2006. The members and staffs of this organization are furniture craftsmen and business owners from those 24 furniture centers in East Jakarta.
